Protests have erupted in Palestine over Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The violent protests have left at least 60 Palestinians wounded and one dead, Haaretz said.
Hundreds of extra soldiers have been deployed to streets in the West Bank by Israel to fight back against Palestinian protestors. Stones have been thrown at the Israeli authorities and tyres have been set on fire whilst Israeli troops used tear gas, as well as both bullets and rubber bullets, against the Palestinians.
It is feared violence could grow as Palestinian Islamist group Hamas has already called for an intifada due to Trump’s decision, which has been met with condemnation from the majority of the rest of the world.
