In Photos: Israel demolishes home in al-Walaja, 40 others under threat

Heavily armed Israeli forces stormed the northern part of the village and demolished a home where five family members lived. It was demolished under the pretext that it was built without the nearly-impossible condition of failure to obtain an Israeli permit.
About 180 homes in al-Walaja received demolition notices, of which 40 are demolition orders that have been issued by Israeli authorities. The 40 homes received demolition orders under the pretext of being built without an Israeli permit.
Nearly all Palestinian applications for building permits in Area C are denied by the Israeli authorities, forcing communities to build illegally.
Meanwhile, the estimated 550,000 Jewish Israeli settlers in the occupied Palestinian territory are more easily given building permits and allowed to expand their homes and properties, despite living in settlements that violate international law.
