OIC should have done more

AT a time when the entire Muslim Ummah is enraged at the self-styled US decision to recognize occupied Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and protest demonstrations are taking place in entire length and breadth of Islamic countries, holding the extraordinary meeting of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) indeed was a step in the right direction to give a tough response both to the US and the Jewish State, reflecting the aspirations of the entire Ummah. According to the final communiqué of the Summit, the Muslim countries recognized East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine and invited all other countries to follow suit while declaring Donald Trump’s decision null and void.
While burying all our petty internal differences especially on sectarian lines, the Muslim countries need to show unity and maturity to stop the US and other oppressive forces from playing with the blood of Muslims anymore. For this, we will have to take some difficult decisions and pursue the path that makes the Muslim world self-reliant in different fields. We would not have faced such a sorry state of affairs today had the Muslim rulers preferred investing in education, science and technology and human resource development.
